Cross World Mercs.

What about this.....Why not have a merc reg so we can fight in any World that hires us? It works in Holy Battle!

That would require good deals with other mercs and would of course give more xp plus orders could only afford limited numbers of these big guys.
Perhaps even just to same language Worlds.
No volunteers just mercs??

Not sure how much xp you would expect to get if you are a lvl 70 going against a 150, 3 maybe, better off going against a lvl 80-90*

*That is if/when the battlescript gets changed back so damage against low levels isn't capped

An interesting idea but would need lvl restrictions in order to avoid such massacres like itsjustme pointed out.

You would need more than just level restrictions

The battle script runs by oldest ID so with cross world mercs, it would be difficult to run the battle script properly. It also would be very possible to have more than one of the same ID in the script.

It could be worked out but it would be a headache for the developer.

With the arena now, you are up against all worlds by lvl, how difficult would it be to apply that to cross world mercs in battles?

I don't know Mildred...

Did they get the arena right when they modified it or did it have a bug or two? I don't believe they use nearly the same script for the arena and battles. Also, I am pretty sure that if past performance is an indicator...there will be bugs and headaches.

how 'bout they just fix the things everyone knows is wrong before implementing something else that will likely be buggy X( :?:

LOL, one step back for every two forward?

@Ved, it may have its ups and downs but I would think that the scripts for the arena tourneys and HBs could be tweaked *and* tested for use in regular battles for cross world mercs, couldn't they? Certainly wouldn't see it as a possibility in the near future though if ever...but still an interesting proposition..

It would also open up a whole world of cheating allegations, as many players play in different worlds, it could easily be misused to transfer gold from my character in W2 to my character in w99 (I dont play in W2 and there is no W99!!!)

So the general mood appears to be leave things as they are... no battles and Arena Teams that can fight without any cost to their gold!?
Will the last person to leave, please turn out the lights.

You really enjoy singing this tune..

Arenas are not the downfall of the game, they are just another avenue to enjoy it...there is no reason that you cannot be a part of the arena and there is a fee to join, so gold is wagered. The lack of battles is the result of many factors, not just the arenas.

Tourneys were apart of history, a place to test yourself between battles.

Mildred, tournies were held to test skill between WARS, not battles. Furthermore, tournies were a European idea, mostly to hone the combat skills of knights. The middle east had (as far as I know) nothing of the sort. But then, most of the middle east was at war with each other in a series of raids and counter-raids. Nothing was truely gained in these raids, other than, in some cases, a ridiculously high body count. The point is, tournies have absolutely nothing to do with the Holy Wars. Why are they even in the game? Mac is probably the most vocal about his dislike of them, but I highly doubt he is the only one.

And since, I suspect, arena and tournies are here to stay, why would they have ANY effect on if an order can be declared on?

Why give XP for Arena, why not just gold then?
Battles are the crux of this game and if Orders have no part in it why not just play a version of Mortal Kombat? We all started here to play a War Game after all.
Looks like our ubber MOD posts comments and then deletes after trying to provoke a situation.
Cross World Mercs and Markets would at least give a chance for some activity.
Increase Bonus for Hero's such as gold or XP
WINNERS GAIN MORE AS WELL AS SURVIVORS

The only way that cross world mercs would work is if the random factor was increased, Mac. :P

Too right!..everyone asks for more to the game like tourneys and arena yet when they do it for people they
just sit whinin cos they think everyone that takes part is either hoardin gold or hoardin the xp between themselves:whistling:

How many have used the team arena??I wonder if they ever used it because if they did they'd know they only need
someone same level as themselves to get xp in the team arena, they don't need rely on higher levels

Just in case anyone forgot..this a role playin game it isn't real and can never reflect the realities of 'the holy wars'
If it did we wouldn't be drinking fictitious elixers to regen our health,we'd be going to a medic tent to be treated
with cauterisation tools to stop the bleeding, then we'd be left to try to recover on a straw bed where we had no
chance to fight off the flesh eating infections that would slowly poison our blood before killing us..Elixirs??Pfft
This is Holy War!..it's a game! ^^
